Our Core Pillars
Community
Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers provides a supportive and welcoming community where non-believers can connect, share ideas, and grow together. Through social events, volunteering, and local outreach, we strengthen our bonds and foster a sense of belonging.
Activism
The activism pillar of Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers seeks to normalize atheism, protect our rights, and strengthen our community through direct advocacy, protests, and other forms of political engagement.
We seek to:
Defend the separation of religion and government
Protect our civil rights (and those of other minority groups)
Promote evidence-based, secular policy that benefits everyone equally
Through fearless activism, we will:
Raise the visibility of atheists
Knit closer ties with other community organizations with whom we share humanist goals
Build a better world
Protesting the Family Leader and Christian Nationalism
Education
We enrich lives by exploring science, philosophy, history, and the arts. Our lectures, book discussions, and learning opportunities encourage critical thinking and help members better understand both secular and religious issues.
