Every year at the holiday season, Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers raises money for children who might otherwise be left out.
This year, we focus our giving on a program that provides academic assistance and safe, after-school social activities for about 20 low-income children in the East side of Des Moines.
The program is called SPARQ (Supplemental Practical Academic Real Quality), run by Education Freedom Equality and administered by our friend Caleb Short.
Our goal is to raise $500 for end of year prizes, which will go to the children, and to cover some other basic needs like school supplies and healthy snacks.
Please give generously, and soon. The children’s gifts will need to be purchased before the children leave for their winter break. However, we will keep the fund raising open to the end of the month and any extra money will give the SPARQ program a strong start for 2017.
You can give through this website or bring your donation to the Pancake Breakfast on Dec 18th. Thank you so much to everyone who gives.
