 David Silverman, the new president of American Atheists, visited Des Moines, Iowa on Friday, November 12th to discuss the upcoming American Atheists convention. The convention will take place here in Des Moines on April 21st through the 24th. Several representatives of the non-theistic community in Iowa attended this meeting, including many members of IAF. Topics discussed included the latest details about the convention and what the local groups can do to help make the convention a success.Many details are still being worked out but we are happy to report that the convention is already looking great! The list of confirmed speakers, which can be found here, is very impressive. Mr. Silverman also hinted that there may be more surprises in store. Mr. Silverman was impressed by the large turnout at this meeting and the amount of support this convention is receiving from the local non-theistic community. He was also glad to hear that a lot of non-theists are willing to volunteer their time to make the convention a success.
