IAF member attends a White House briefing

On February 25, 2010, Secular Coalition for America met with White House officials for a policy briefing. You can find out more on SCA's website: http://www.secular.org/node/209

In itself a historic event, it was made even more special for Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers by the fact that one of our own members was in attendance. We are all very proud of Amanda, who has done so much for IAF, and congratulate her on this great honor.

I caught up with Amanda and asked her to answer a few questions about her experience.

Atheists Demand Legislature Stop Official Daily Prayers

On Monday, January 11, 2010, the Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers sent an email to each member of the Iowa Legislature. The letter objected to the prayers that begin each legislative day. The full text of the letter can be found here.

IAF wraps up Toys for Tots campaign

Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers Announces Winter Bus Campaign

The Iowa Atheists and Freethinkers' winter bus ad will run soon. Please consider a financial contribution if you have not already donated. The new sign is similar to the old one and reads "Being good for goodness' sake."

If you contribute over $50 we'll send you an IAF t-shirt. Please indicate your shirt-size and supply a mailing address when you donate. We have a limited number of t-shirts so first-come, first-served.

IAF Bylaws Change

On October 11, 2009 the IAF voted on and approved a change to our governing documents. The change was made because one of our members wished to become a lifetime contributing member of IAF. We added two new membership options: an individual lifetime membership rate of $600 and a partners lifetime membership rate of $900. The changed section of the by-laws is below.
